Data Backup & Recovery for Dental Practices

Dental Data Backup & Disaster Recovery

Encrypted, automated, off-site backups with rapid disaster recovery — and restore drills that prove the backups actually work when you need them.

What you get with Data Backup & Recovery

A backup you've never restored is a wish, not a backup. LNC DATA LLC runs HIPAA-aligned, encrypted backup for dental practices the way it should be done: multiple copies, at least one off-site and immutable, with periodic test restores so you know the recovery point and recovery time you'll actually get on a bad day. We back up your practice management database, imaging files, server, and workstation system state — and we monitor every job so a silently failing backup never goes unnoticed.

What's included

  • Daily encrypted image-level backups of your server and key workstations
  • Continuous backup of practice-management databases (Dentrix, Eaglesoft, Open Dental, etc.)
  • Off-site, immutable cloud copy that ransomware cannot encrypt
  • Quarterly tested restores with documented recovery time and recovery point
  • Backup health monitoring with alerting on failures or skipped jobs
  • AES-256 encryption in transit and at rest
  • Retention policy aligned with HIPAA and your state dental-board rules
  • Disaster-recovery runbook customized to your office
Built for dental, not generic IT

Why dental practices choose us for data backup & recovery

Imaging files (CBCT, panoramic, intraoral) are huge — and irreplaceable. A backup strategy that works for a small office's documents won't survive a full imaging-server failure. We design and tune backup specifically for the volume and access patterns of a dental practice, so a server crash, a stolen laptop, or a ransomware event doesn't end your week.

Frequently Asked

Data Backup & Recovery questions dental practices ask

Isn't our practice-management vendor's cloud backup good enough?

Vendor cloud backup typically covers only the practice management database — not your imaging files, not your server's operating system, not your custom configurations. If your server crashes, vendor backup gets you the database back. We also get the rest of your practice back, in hours instead of days.

How often do you actually test that the backups can be restored?

Quarterly at minimum, plus any time something material changes (new imaging hardware, PMS upgrade, server migration). We document the recovery point (how much data could be lost) and recovery time (how long to be operational) so you have a real number — not marketing copy.

What does 'immutable' backup mean and why does it matter?

Immutable means the backup copy cannot be modified or deleted for a defined retention window — even by an administrator account that has been compromised. This is the single most important defense against ransomware that targets backups, which is now standard tactic for the gangs that hit dental practices.

How long do you keep backups, and is that enough for HIPAA?

We default to a tiered retention policy (daily for ~30 days, weekly for several months, monthly for a year+) sized to your practice. HIPAA requires reasonable retention; many states also require dental-record retention well beyond HIPAA. We align retention with both, and document the policy.
